Weekly casting news roundup
One punk rocker will play another in ‘CBGB,’ the upcoming pic about the legendary NYC nightclub that gave us the Ramones, Blondie, and other underground-classic bands. Drummer Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters is set to costar as Iggy Pop. ‘Harry Potter’ alums Alan Rickman and Rupert Grint are also attached, and Malin Akerman will play Debbie Harry. Clearly, this movie has great potential for extreme awesomeness ... Ashley Tisdale will star in ‘Scary Movie 5,’ the horror-parody series’ latest instalment ... And Woody Allen, a director most actors would kill, rob, or even eat carbs to work with, has put together an eclectic cast for his next project. Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, Peter Sarsgaard, and comedians Louis C.K. and Andrew Dice Clay will all be shooting in San Francisco with the neurotic New Yorker this summer. Should be interesting!
